Infinity War Cast Asks ‘Where Were Ant-Man and Wasp?’

WARNING: The following contains spoilers for Avengers: Infinity War, which is in theaters now.

A new promo for Peyton Reed’s Ant-Man and the Wasp features all the big names of Avengers: Infinity War asking one of the superhero ensemble’s biggest, unanswered questions: “Where were Scott Lang and Hope van Dyne?”

Although the Russo Brothers crafted a supersized movie featuring many of the famous faces from the Marvel Cinematic Universe, there were some notable absences from the 19th MCU movie. Alongside the lack of Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, both Ant-Man and the Wasp seemed to join Jeremy Renner’s Hawkeye in a state of Infinity War exile.

Ant-Man was briefly referenced as being under house arrest for the sake of his family, but it hasn’t stopped some of the MCU’s biggest stars asking where were the two tiny heroes. Featuring the likes of Chris Hemsworth, Letitia Wright and Scarlett Johansson, the clip has the various heroes mulling over the perplexing question.

Benedict Cumberbatch questions if they met a tragic fate by going subatomic, or as Tom Hiddleston says, maybe they were there but fans just couldn’t see them. Thankfully, Paul Rudd and Evangeline Lilly pop up at the end to remind fans that their own standalone movie is coming soon. On top of this, a new trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp is teased for May 1.

Cleverly, the next two MCU movies are set before the events of Infinity War, meaning that audiences will have to wait until next May’s Avengers 4 to find out how Ant-Man and the Wasp come into play in the concluding fight with Thanos.

However, with Ant-Man and the Wasp heading to theaters on July 6, those who missed the comedy stylings of Rudd’s Lang and his complicated relationship with Lilly’s Hope van Dyne don’t have long to wait before they suit up once again.

Now that Infinity War is out of the way, the MCU marketing machine is putting all its efforts into hyping Reed’s follow-up to 2015’s Ant-Man. Taking place after the events of Captain America: Civil War, Scott Lang has successfully escaped his imprisonment on the Raft but is tasked with finding Michelle Pfeiffer’s Janet van Dyne — last seen going subatomic in the Quantum Realm.

Directed by Peyton Reed, Ant-Man and The Wasp stars Paul Rudd, Evangeline Lilly, Bobby Cannavale, Michael Peña, Tip “T.I.” Harris, Judy Greer, David Dastmalchian, Michael Douglas, Michelle Pfeiffer, Laurence Fishburne, Hannah John-Kamen, Randall Park and Walton Goggins. The film opens July 6.
