As Arrow nears the end of its sixth season, The CW has released the official synopsis for the season finale teasing a showdown of epic proportions.
The finale, scheduled to air on May 17, has had its title and synopsis revealed as follows by the network:
“Life Sentence” — (9:00-10:00 p.m. ET) (Content Rating TBD) (HDTV)
THE EPIC SEASON FINALE OF ARROW — With a new ally on his team, Oliver (Stephen Amell) engages Diaz (guest star Kirk Acevedo) in an epic final battle. James Bamford directed the episode written by Wendy Mericle & Marc Guggenheim (#623). Original airdate 5/17/2018.
As indicated in the synopsis, the episode is directed by James Bamford from a script written by departing showrunners Wendy Mericle and Marc Guggenheim. Arrow was recently renewed for a seventh season with co-executive producer Beth Schwartz being promoted to the show’s sole showrunner for the upcoming installment.
With the promise of a new ally to help Team Arrow against Diaz, speculation mounts this role goes to either Colin Donnell who returns as Tommy Merlyn in this week’s upcoming episode or Colton Haynes who recently announced his return as Arsenal as a series regular in the seventh season.
The series that launched DC Comics’ televised Arrowverse featuring The Flash, Legends of Tomorrow and Supergirl has spent much of its sixth season revisiting its roots by removing Oliver Queen from the office of Mayor while organized crime headed by this season’s main antagonist, Ricardo Diaz, has reared its ugly head once again within Star City. Additionally, this season has seen the show embrace its own history including the returns of Deathstroke (Manu Bennett), the League of Assassins and fifth season antagonist Prometheus (Josh Segarra) as part of a Vertigo-induced hallucination.
Airing Thursdays at 9 p.m. ET/PT on The CW, Arrow stars Stephen Amell, David Ramsey, Emily Bett Rickards, Rick Gonzalez, Echo Kellum, Juliana Harkavy, Kirk Acevado, Paul Blackthorne, and Katie Cassidy.
