It appears Arrested Development: Season 5 will drop this summer on Netflix. According to recurring actor Henry Winkler (Barry Zuckercorn), the second season of Netflix’s celebrated revival will release “midsummer” on the streaming platform.
Speaking with Decider about his new HBO series Barry, Winkler spilled the beans with regards to Arrested Development: Season 5’s release window. “That will be on midsummer,” Winkler confirmed. “We just shot it before Christmas.”
The fifth season of the acclaimed comedy series was already thought to have wrapped production — as echoed by Winkler — and series narrator Ron Howard (director of the upcoming Solo: A Star Wars Story) reportedly recorded his lines back in March. While Netflix has yet to confirm a release date, Winkler’s suggested release window certainly seems likely.

Arrested Development: Season 5 is set to center around a murder mystery, after the cliffhanger left by Season 4, in which Lucille Austero (Liza Minnelli) disappeared. With all of the Bluth family bearing a plausible motive for killing Lucille, the culprit could be any one of the eccentric clan’s members.
While it’s been a few years since we’ve gotten fresh Arrested Development content, there was a certain nod to the beloved show in the recently-released Avengers: Infinity War. Joe and Anthony Russo, who directed Infinity War, also helmed a number of Arrested Development’s episodes — so, the reference isn’t totally out there.
