The series premiere of Jack Ryan is still four months away, but that hasn’t stopped Amazon from renewing the show for a second season.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Amazon Studios has greenlit the John Krasinski-led Jack Ryan series for a second season following an early preview of the first season. “With so much early anticipation for Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan from our customers and personally having the pleasure to preview the exhilarating, action-packed first season, we are excited to greenlight a second season of the series months ahead of its debut,” Head of Amazon Studios Jennifer Salke said in a statement. “The new season will take our unexpected hero to a new, exciting and dangerous world.”

Amazon’s Jack Ryan will see Tom Clancy’s character brought to the small screen for the first time following several iterations on the big screen. The role has been played by Alec Baldwin, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck and, most recently, Chris Pine in the 2014 film Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit. Amazon’s series will reboot the character, this time with Krasinski in the titular role as a CIA analyst with a knack for knowing when and where terrorists might strike.
Jack Ryan is a co-production of Paramount Television, Skydance Media and Platinum Dunes. The series will be executive produced by Michael Bay and show creators Carlton Cuse (Lost) and Graham Roland (Fringe). The 10-episode series will begin streaming on Amazon on August 31.
