Infinity War’s Final Fight Scene Is 25 Pages Long

When Avengers: Infinity War hits theaters next week, it will bring about the culmination of nearly 10 years of storytelling in the Marvel Cinematic Universe that began with Iron Man in 2008. Naturally, in a film of this scale, there’s going to be some carnage in the form of some intense fight sequences, and it turns out the final fight scene in the film, which will take place in Wakanda, was 25 pages long.

In an appearance on Good Morning America, star Anthony Mackie revealed he only received a 25-page script for the film. “I got 25 pages,” Mackie said. “Which was the final fight sequence and I sent a long email like, ‘This movie’s gonna be awful. How does this work? There’s no story. Like, this gonna be the longest fight sequence ever.’ And they were like, ‘No, there’s 250 other pages.’”

Typically, scripts run at about a one minute of runtime per page, so it’s quite likely the fight scene in the film will be at least 25 minutes long, if not more. The Russo Brothers kept the script for the film incredibly tight, with only one actor in the film admitting to having read the whole thing: Doctor Strange star Benedict Cumberbatch. Mackie’s comments do seem to suggest that Falcon will only appear in the final fight sequence in the film.

In theaters April 27, Avengers: Infinity War is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo and stars Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Bettany, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston and Josh Brolin, among others.
