Marvel Comics have a treat in store for fans who are interested in what happens with General Leia’s Rebellion right after they escaped Kylo Ren’s clutches in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It turns out, they won’t have to wait until J.J. Abrams’ Episode IX as Poe Dameron #26 picks up right after Rian Johnson’s big finale.
The story, out April 18 by writer Charles Soule and artist Angel Unzueta, depicts Poe, Finn and Rey discussing their escape and also, the casualties that this new resistance against the First Order has endured. Poe is clearly referencing the losses of Han Solo and now, Luke Skywalker on Crait, wondering how things could have gone better.

Rey, however, urges him to let go of the past, while Finn tries to lighten the situation by taking shots at Poe’s piloting abilities and his knack for crashing. It’s a very tender moment and a rare one which finally unites all three as the future of the Rebellion, and more so, the new breed who’s been tasked by Leia with bringing balance back to the galaxy.
Poe Dameron started in April 2016 and has since detailed the pilot’s history, from birth to basically becoming the rogue Leia trusted to find the map to Luke back on Jaaku in The Force Awakens. As we see from these pages, despite the arduous journey thus far, the heroes are down but certainly not defeated.

Finn also seems to be warning Poe that Rey’s his romantic territory, while Rey’s simply concerned with Luke’s famous lightsaber. Of course, this all acts as a fun piece of prologue to Episode IX when the First Order will come knocking once more, but this time with Kylo Ren as the Supreme Leader.
Available now digitally and on Blu-ray and DVD, writer/director Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Benicio Del Toro as ‘DJ’, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, and the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa.
Episode IX is set to arrive in theaters on December 20, 2019. The movie will star Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren and Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron.
