Despite being a DC Comics adaptation on The CW, Black Lightning is set outside of the fan-dubbed Arrowverse, though Arrow actor Stephen Amell thinks that’ll change — eventually.
Speaking about the prospect of Black Lightning eventually existing inside of the Arrowverse, Amell seemed to have no doubt in his mind that it’ll happen sooner or later. “Everyone pretends like we’re not going to eventually cross over with Black Lightning but we’re probably gonna cross over with Black Lightning because that’s just the way that the world works,” he explained at an Awesome Con panel in Washington, DC, this weekend.

“I think that anything you can do to expand the universe and to build out what we’ve built on our show would be great. So, I’m glad that show’s doing well, I hope that it has a very successful run, and I would love to be a small part of it in some way shape, or form,” Amell concluded.
This, of course, isn’t a confirmation of any sort from the Arrow actor, but he spearheaded this entire wave of televised superheroism so his words definitely carry some weight. It’s worth noting that Supergirl, despite originally airing on CBS and existing outside of Arrowverse continuity, was eventually brought into the shared universe alongside Arrow, The Flash, and Legends of Tomorrow — so there’s always a chance for Black Lightning to be added into the fold, too.
Arrowverse crossovers are produced annually and each one tries to top the last, so one way this could be achieved is bringing Cress Williams’ titular hero into the mix alongside the plethora of other DC superheroes The CW is home to.
