New Guardians of the Galaxy Easter Egg Confirmed


Guardians of the Galaxy is almost four years old, but that doesn’t mean fans aren’t still discovering new Easter eggs. Indeed, one fan realized that, during Stan Lee’s cameo in Guardians of the Galaxy, the text that appears on screen is written in the Skrull language and translates to “excelsior,” a word often associated with Lee.

Director James Gunn confirmed via Twitter that Twitter user Danactual had indeed discovered a new Easter egg, earning himself a coveted No-Prize in the process. However, Gunn did note that the Skrull easter egg is not the one that he’s been teasing for a very, very long time.

The news comes shortly after a new synopsis for Captain Marvel further teased the adaptation of “The Kree-Skrull War” and the reappearances of Kree characters Korath the Pursuer (Djimon Hounsou) and Ronan the Accuser (Lee Pace), both of whom first appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy.

The Guardians of the Galaxy will next appear in Avengers: Infinity War, which is directed by Joe and Anthony Russo. The film Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Mark Ruffalo, Jeremy Renner, Scarlett Johansson, Paul Bettany, Anthony Mackie, Paul Rudd, Elizabeth Olsen, Tom Holland, Benedict Cumberbatch, Chadwick Boseman, Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Tom Hiddleston and Josh Brolin, among others. The film opens April 27.
