Hamill Voices Luke in Star Wars: Forces of Destiny Short

Star Wars legend Mark Hamill just reprised his role as Luke Skywalker for Disney’s latest Forces of Destiny short. “The Path Ahead” returns to Luke’s time on Dagobah, where he trained to become a Jedi with Master Yoda.

In the episode, Luke learns an important lesson about the Force in an unconventional way. Yoda instructs him to climb to the tops of the trees and navigate the maze of branches without falling. Luke, having grown up on a desert planet, has a spot of trouble with this — until Yoda teaches him a very familiar lesson.

Star Wars fans will recognize Yoda’s lesson as the first one Luke gives Rey in The Last Jedi. Of course, the two young Jedis learn this lesson in very different settings and in very different ways, but the result is certainly the same.

Now in its second season, Star Wars: Forces of Destiny is a series of animated shorts that reveals never-before-seen moments from the franchise’s sprawling canon. For instance, “The Path Ahead” shows a lesson from Yoda that never would have made it into Empire Strikes Back and ties it into The Last Jedi. Other episodes feature team ups between characters who have never met on screen before, like Star Wars Rebels‘ Sabine Wren and Rogue One‘s Jyn Erso.

Star Wars: Forces of Destiny Season 2 is now available on Disney’s YouTube channel.
