10. Gintama.: Shirogane no Tamashii-hen

In 10th place is long running anime Gintama. Set in an alternate Edo era in which the Shogun has surrendered control to a bunch of alien invaders known as Amanto, Gintama has entered its final “Silver Soul” arc but remains a firm favorite with fans who can’t get enough of the zany antics of Gintoki and co.!

9. Seven Deadly Sins: Revival of the Commandments

Next in line is the fantasy-themed The Seven Deadly Sins. Adapted from Suzuki Nakaba’s manga, the series follows the adventures of Princess Elizabeth who sets out on a journey to find the titular group of Knights in the hope that they will be able to help her win back her kingdom which has been overthrown by the Holy Knights.

Fantasy continues to prove popular this season with Black Clover coming in eighth. Set in a world in which the majority of people have magical abilities, Black Clover follows two orphans one of whom has no special powers and the other who is a magical prodigy.

Yuri anime Citrus takes seventh place, following the story of Aihara Yuzu who struggles to fit into the conservative girls school she’s just transferred to. To make things even more confusing, she then discovers that the mean student president is actually her new step-sister!

The latest anime from Kill la Kill’s Studio Trigger and A1-Pictures, Darling in the FranXX takes place in a far future in which humanity is threatened by giant monsters known as klaxosaurs requiring children to work in pairs to pilot giant mecha fighters known as Franxx.

Adapted from the shounen fantasy manga by Yamazaki Kore, The Ancient Magus Bride tells the unusual story of Hatori Chise. Having lived a life of hardship, she finds herself sold to a magician and goes on to become not only his apprentice but also his wife.

Gakuen Babysitters has won fans all over for its sweet and serene slice of life atmosphere, following two brothers who were orphaned after a plane crash. However, life gets a little brighter after they’re taken in by the chairwoman of an elite academy – on the condition that they help babysit kids at the school’s daycare.

Violet Evergarden may have missed out on first, but is nevertheless a riveting anime for countless fans, starring the titular “Auto Memoir Doll” who was once a fearsome warrior in the recently concluded war. Despite Violet’s violent history, she now tries to figure out the true meaning of human feelings by writing letters for people.

And the winner is… Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card-hen! The latest instalment in the Cardcaptor Sakura series, it’s clear that fans are just as enthusiastic as always to see Sakura’s latest adventures in junior high school. With her Sakura Cards turned transparent and most importantly, powerless, the anime follows her new quest to recapture the cards.
