During its Leprechaun marathon yesterday in honor of St. Patrick’s Day, Syfy revealed plans to release a brand new installment in the franchise with 2019’s Leprechaun Returns.

The latest installment, which will air in March 2019, takes things back to the beginning as it’s set 25 years after the events of the 1993 original film that starred Warwick Davis in the titular role. The original film, which boasted a young Jennifer Aniston, introduced fans to the evil, sadistic Leprechaun who goes on a killing rampage in search of his beloved pot of gold. That film, which managed to earn just $8.5 million during its theatrical run, spawned countless sequels, including: Leprechaun 2, Leprechaun 3, Leprechaun 4: In Space, Leprechaun in the Hood, and Leprechaun: Back 2 tha Hood. This new installment will be written by Suzanne Keilly (Ash vs Evil Dead) and directed by Steven Kostanski (The Void).
This, of course, is the second attempt at rebooting the cult-classic franchise, as Lionsgate and WWE Studios came together for 2014’s Leprechaun: Origins starring WWE Wrestler Dylan Postl. That remake, like this latest one, skipped theaters and instead went the VOD route upon release back in 2014.

Leprechaun Returns stars Taylor Spreitler (Kevin Can Wait) as Lila, Pepi Sonuga (Ash vs Evil Dead) as Katie, Sai Bennett (Lake Placid: Legacy) as Rose, and Linden Porco as the almighty Leprechaun. The film will also bring back actor Mark Holton to reprise his role as Ozzie from the original film.
