Black Panther actor Sope Aluko will appear in a second superhero film this year: Sony Pictures’ Venom.
According to Deadline, the Nigerian-born actress has joined the cast of Sony’s Venom solo film, one seemingly disconnected from the Marvel Cinematic Universe. She joins a packed cast that includes Tom Hardy, Michelle Williams and Riz Ahmed. Aluko’s role has not yet been revealed, which seems to be true for many of the secretive film’s stars.

In Black Panther, Aluko played Shaman, a citizen of the nation of Wakanda. She previously appeared in films Pitch Perfect 2 and Identity Thief, as well as on television in The Mindy Project and Bloodline.
The news won’t come as a surprise to those following the success of Black Panther, which has now grossed over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. It’s no wonder studios are casting the film’s stars in upcoming projects.
