DC’s Flash Film Rumored to Feature Killer Frost, Captain Cold, Heatwave

Killer Frost, Captain Cold, Heatwave and other DC Comics villains may be headed to Warner Bros.’ Flashpoint film

According to That Hashtag Show, Doctor Arthur Light will serve as the main villain of Flashpoint, but Captain Cold and Heatwave will also appear in the movie. Caitlin Snow, also known as Killer Frost, is also believed to play a lead role in the film, although the report doesn’t specify whether her alter ego will surface.

Officer Fred Chyre and Detective Jared Morillo are also thought to play supporting roles, helping Ezra Miller’s Barry Allen to investigate the death of Johnny Quick, also known as Jonathan Chambers. The film will reportedly feature flashbacks to Barry’s accident and include Eobard Thawne in “an interesting way.”

Captain Cold and Heatwave have already appeared in The CW’s Arrowverse, where they’re played by Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell, respectively. Danielle Panabaker plays Snow on The Flash and has been a staple of the CW series since it premiered in 2014.

The article does note this information predates the news that Spider-Man Homecoming writers John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein will direct the film, so it’s possible all of this may change.

Not much is definitively known about Flashpoint, although it’s rumored that Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman, Ray Fisher’s Cyborg and Ben Affleck’s Batman will be involved in some capacity. In November, DC Entertainment President & Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns teased the grand scale of the film, saying, “There’s elements in it that we’re going to be playing into that we couldn’t do anywhere else. The scale of it, the Batman story of it all.”

Flashpoint was a 2011 DC Comics event written by Johns and illustrated by Andy Kubert. It starred Barry Allen, who traveled back to the past to prevent his mother’s murder. This altered the timeline and created a new alternate reality where Barry was no longer The Flash, and changed many of the most recognizable heroes and villains across the DC Universe. The conclusion of the story opened the door for DC’s New 52 reboot.
