The end of season three saw the beginning of a massive zombie outbreak as the world came to learn about zombies courtesy of a news broadcast by newscaster Johnny Frost at Liv’s request. Now, going into season four, the zombie series is promising a bold new season “starting from scratch.” In the latest promotional image, which you can see below, Liv is seen sitting atop a wall with barbed wire as the city of Seattle seemingly falls into chaos at the hands of the zombie invasion.
As previously teased by showrunner Rob Thomas, the series will see Seattle become a “walled city” in the fourth season as the government opts to keep all of the zombies contained in the Washington city. Yet, despite the show diving into new territory with the outbreak, the show won’t entirely be starting over from scratch as Thomas as promised the procedural aspect of the series will remain intact. “Part of the joy of the show is Liv eating a new brain each week and putting on this new personality and having whatever new talents or skills she has,” he said in a previous interview with CBR. “That’s part of the magic of the show that we want to keep.”
