Really, No More Transformers? ‘Don’t Believe What You Hear,’ Exec Says

The Transformers movie universe might be continuing after all, according to word coming out of the New York Toy Fair.

An attendee asked Transformers brand manager John Warden about the reported reboot the movie universe is expected to undergo, and according to Bleeding Cool, the exec said, “Don’t believe what you hear, don’t worry.”

A previous report suggested that Hasbro and Paramount were planning to reboot their film franchise following the release of the Bumblebee spinoff movie out later this year. The seventh Transformers film was initially expected to be released in 2019, but has since been removed from Hasbro’s updated schedule.

Warden’s quote is certainly not a lot of information to go on, but it does seem to suggest that Hasbro is still interested in the continuation of its Transformers movie universe. Then again, there is still one more film that the company needs to market, so it likely wants to keep things quite until after the release, if a reboot is indeed happening.

Directed by Travis Knight (Kubo and the Two Strings), Transformers: Bumblebee stars Hailee Steinfeld, John Cena, Jorge Lendeborg Jr., Rachel Crow and Pamela Adlon. The film opens Dec. 21.
