According to Donald Glover, he’s had an easier time developing his Deadpool animated series than both Solo‘s Lando Calrissian and his FX show Atlanta. Glover, who is set to write and executive produce the Marvel series for FX, explained that he feels less pressure to please fans with Deadpool.
“That one, it just seems really easy,” he told PopCulture.tv, referring to Deadpool. “There’s not as much to hold sacred, in a weird way. I know people love Deadpool and I know people are big comic book geeks, but it’s not the same as Lando or Atlanta, where you have a whole city on your back. Deadpool is very aware of himself, so, I don’t have to live up to anything. So it’s been actually, quite easy.”

The Solo: A Star Wars Story star is serving as writer and executive producer on the series along with his brother Stephen. Currently slated for a ten-episode first season, Deadpool will be the network’s second collaboration with Marvel Television, with Noah Hawley’s Legion also hurtling towards its Season 2 premiere date in April.
Created in 1991 by Rob Liefeld and Fabian Nicieza, Deadpool has not only been a mainstay of Marvel comic books, but also a somewhat regular in Marvel’s various animated projects over the years, with appearances on X-Men: The Animated Series, Ultimate Spider-Man and Hulk Vs Wolverine. No release date has yet been announced for the Deadpool animated series.
