According to MCU Exchange, Slate plays Dora Skirth, an original character for the film who is a scientist for the Life Foundation. She was recently spotted on location outside of the American Cancer Center in Atlanta, which serve as a stand-in for the headquarters of the Life Foundation, which in Marvel comics is a corporate survivalist organization that spawns five symbiotes from Venom.

Haze, meanwhile, is reportedly portraying comics character Roland Treece, the founder of Treece International and a member of the Life Foundation’s board of directors, alongside Riz Ahmed’s Carlton Drake. The character was introduced in Marvel’s Venom: Lethal Protector miniseries, which is a primary influence for the film.

It was previously speculated that Slate and Haze are playing characters associated with the villain Carnage, and there’s a chance that could yet pan out. Slate’s role could potentially be an amalgamation of several minor Venom characters, including Dr. Ashley Kafka, head of Ravencroft Institute for the Criminally Insane, where Cletus Kasady was held.

Directed by Ruben Fleischer from a script by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, Venom stars Tom Hardy, Jenny Slate, Michelle Williams, Scott Haze and Riz Ahmed. The film arrives Oct. 5.
