Henry Cavill could be returning to the role of Superman much sooner than expected.

Citing an unnamed “trusted source,” Revenge of the Fan reports that Cavill’s Man of Steel is will make an appearance in Warner Bros.’ Shazam!, targeted for release in April 2019. Although a Man of Steel sequel in the works, and Dwayne Johnson apparently wants Cavill to appear in Black Adam, both projects are still a ways off, and studio executives don’t want to keep Superman out of action that long — particularly given the response to his return in Justice League.
However, the nature of Superman’s role in Shazam! remains unknown. Speculation is that Asher Angel’s Billy Batson will look up to the Man of Steel as something of a role model. That could mean Superman inspires his views about heroism and influences how he carries himself as Shazam.
