Lupin III to Return in April With Part V!

Monkey Punch’s legendary manga Lupin III celebrated its 50th anniversary last year, and what better to mark this milestone than a new TV anime?

Lupin III Part V is set to premiere in April on Nippon TV with a teaser to be revealed during the movie classic The Castle of Cagliostro, coming up on Nippon TV’s “Kinyou Roadshow!” programming block on Jan. 19.

Taking place in contemporary France, Part V takes a detour from the series’ familiar atmosphere with a digital society featuring huge, futuristic buildings towering in the background and Lupin using modern technology such as the internet or mobile terminals.

Part V is produced by Telecom Animation Film and will share most of its staff with the previous series, including director Yano Yuichiro, character designer Yokobori Hisao, and composer Ohno Yuji, with the addition of Okouchi Ichiro ( Code Geass, Kabaneri of the Iron Fortress ), who is responsible for series composition and script.

The series also revealed a visual featuring Lupin wearing the same blue jacket as in Part IV as well as a mysterious man, with no clues yet as to what role he will play in the story.

Lupin III Part V will premiere in April on Nippon TV and will also be distributed on Hulu.
