Director Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman is among the contenders for the top film prize from the Producers Guild of America, often viewed as indicators of the best picture nominations for the Academy Awards.

It’s joined in the competition for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Pictures by The Big Sick, Call Me by Your Name, Dunkirk, Get Out, I, Tonya, Lady Bird, Molly’s Game, The Post, The Shape of Water and Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri.
Starring Gal Gadot as the iconic DC Comics superheroine, Wonder Woman was a critical and commercial success, earning $821.9 million worldwide and generating early Oscar buzz. Warner Bros. launched a “For Your Consideration” campaign in October, positioning the film for potential nominations for Best Picture, Best Director, Best Actress for Gadot, Best Supporting Actress for Robin Wright, Connie Nielsen and Elena Anaya, and Best Supporting Actor for Chris Pine, David Thewlis, Danny Huston and Ewen Bremner.
The studio also set its sights on Best Screenplay, Best Visual Effects, Best Production Design and Best Costumes.

The PGA Awards will be presented Jan. 20. The nominations for the Academy Awards will be announced Jan. 23.
Wonder Woman stars Gal Gadot as Diana, Chris Pine as Steve Trevor, Robin Wright as General Antiope, Danny Huston as General Erich Ludendorff, David Thewlis as Ares, Connie Nielsen as Queen Hippolyta, Elena Anaya as Doctor Poison, and Lucy Davis as Etta Candy.
