On Twitter, artist Gary Frank released some new artwork from the upcoming third volume of Batman: Earth One with the caption, “It’s coming!” The pencils show two panels, one with Batman glaring and the other of a frightened man.

Frank had nothing else to say about the book, save for that he and writer Geoff Johns are working at it when the two of them have the chance. Both of them are fairly busy working on Doomsday Clock, the crossover event between the DC Comics characters and the Watchmen; Johns is also the Chief Creative Officer for DC. Still, Frank promises that it’ll come out when the two of them are able to commit more time to it.
Well, It’ll be a while. They have us on another little project at the moment but we’ll finish when we can.

The Earth One titles are a line of books that function as modern retellings of the early adventures for popular DC superheroes, separate from the primary DC continuity. Currently, five characters have gotten the Earth One treatment: Batman with two prior volumes, Superman with three, the Teen Titans with two and Wonder Woman with one. A Green Lantern book is set to arrive in March, while Aquaman and Flash have their stories in development as well.
