The Devil You Know #5, released this Wednesday, the Bureau for Paranormal Research and Defense, as related by The Hollywood Reporter, discover a coffin that appears to contain Hellboy, and it appears that he’s opening his eyes.

“For a very long time we’ve known where this series was going,” Mignola told THR. “The reveal at the end of issue #5 was planned years ago and I sincerely hope it catches readers by surprise. The Internet being what it is, it’s not easy to keep secrets these days, but I’m hopeful fans will help us out and keep a lid on things for a while, until more people have had a chance to read the comic.”

Hellboy was killed off in 2011’s Hellboy: The Fury, which was followed by the 10-issue Hellboy in Hell series, which ran from 2012 to 2016. It’s not yet known exactly when and where this story will continue, but keep reading CBR for the latest.

The character is poised for a major multimedia comeback in about a year, with the a new Hellboy film directed by Neil Marshall and starring David Harbour in his first appearance in the title role. Hellboy, released by Lionsgate, is scheduled for release on Jan. 11, 2019.
