Theater Issues Warning About Star Wars: The Last Jedi

SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for Star Wars: The Last Jedi, now in theaters.

A scene in Star Wars: The Last Jedi has one theater warning moviegoers. The warning, which surfaced on Facebook, makes fans aware that the sound cuts during a particular scene towards the end of the film.

“Please note: The Last Jedi contains a sequence at approximately 1 hour and 52 minutes into the movie in which ALL sound stops for about 10 full seconds,” the warning reads. “While the images continue to play on the screen you will hear nothing. This is intentionally done by the director for a creative effect.”

The scene that the notice warns about happens when Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo rams the Resistance ship into a Star Destroyer at light speed. The subsequent explosion is shown in a blaze of light without any sound, which may have led some moviegoers to believe something went wrong with the theater’s audio. However, as the warning notes, this was purposely done by director Rian Johnson for “a creative effect.”

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Benicio Del Toro as ‘DJ’, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, and the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. The film is in theaters worldwide.
