The Last Jedi Unseats Wonder Woman at Box Office

Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi has officially surpassed Wonder Woman in the domestic box office, making the Star Wars sequel the second-most profitable movie in 2017. The Last Jedi hit $423.7 million domestically over the weekend, while Wonder Woman rests at $412.6 million. Neither film is close to surpassing this year’s box office juggernaut, Beauty and the Beast, which made $504 million.

The Last Jedi got a major box office bump yesterday, as big Dec. 26 gains are typical for the franchise. According to Deadline, the film made $28.1 million yesterday. Star Wars: The Force Awakens enjoyed a similar bump in the year of its release, as it secured $56.7 million on the Dec. 26 after its release.

While Beauty and the Beast seems secure in its position as this year’s top earner, there’s always a chance The Last Jedi might sneak up from behind and unseat it.
