The list of Marvel Comics cancellations has grown to at least six with the announcement on Tuesday that She-Hulk will end in March with Issue 163.

The title joins Generation X, Hawkeye, Iceman, Luke Cage and The Unbelievable Gwenpool, which have been confirmed as canceled following their absence from the publisher’s March solicitations.
She-Hulk writer Mariko Tamaki broke the news to fans in a statement released on Twitter. “I’m fortunate to have had the opportunity to to write this character through some serious challenges,” she said, in part. “I worked with an incredible team and collaborated with incredible artists on this series, and I can’t wait to tell you the stuff we are working on next!”

Editor Christina Harrington clarified that She-Hulk #163 isn’t merely Tamaki’s final issue but also the series finale. She thanked Senior Editor Mark Pannicia and Executive Editor Tom Brevoort, “who fought for this series from day one,” adding, “When we knew we weren’t getting another arc after 163, they let us end Jen’s arc on our terms and on terms that made sense for her character.”

Spinning out of Marvel’s Civil War II, the Jennifer Walters-led Hulk was launched in December 2016 by Tamaki and artist Nico Leon. The series returned to its original title, She-Hulk, in August as part of the Marvel Legacy branding initiative.
Brevoort addressed the cancellations in broad terms last week, tweeting, “It is worth pointing out again: Incredible Hulk was cancelled once. X-Men was cancelled once. Thor was cancelled once. Being cancelled is not necessarily the end of the story, nor does it necessarily reflect the value of the work.” He added on Tuesday night, “We go through this cycle every year where weaker-selling titles get pruned. It just happens to be that moment again.”
She-Hulk #163, by Tamaki and artist Diego Olortegu, goes on sale March 7.
