Last Jedi’s Snoke Has ‘At Least’ One Other Apprentice

Star Wars is a movie franchise first and foremost, but that’s not all it is. To get the whole, complete story, fans compile information from the world of books, comics, cartoons, video games, toys, breakfast cereals, and everything else you can imagine. And when it comes to The Last Jedi‘s utterly mysterious Supreme Leader Snoke, we’re learning more him outside the film than we did on screen.

The Last Jedi Visual Dictionary has proved to be full of tantalizing facts about the Supreme Leader, but the latest revelation comes from The Last Jedi Visual Companion Magazine. As seen in a photo posted to Reddit, the first paragraph in Snoke’s entry confirms not only that the Supreme Leader is not of the Sith (which we already knew), but also that he has “at least one other apprentice.”

Obviously that’s a bombshell. There’s potential for a huge villain out there in the galaxy. The rest of the entry though, makes no further reference to that apprentice. It tells the story of Snoke’s relationship with young Ben Solo, the rise of Kylo Ren and Snoke’s involvement in episodes VII and VIII.

That raises some huge questions. Who is this apprentice? Are they still alive? Are they likely to appear in Episode IX, a different movie altogether, or some other form of media? This is Star Wars, so it is unlikely they’ll be left in shadow forever. If there is another committed to the Dark Side, they’ll make themselves known eventually. And as Snoke says, when that happens, the light will rise to meet them.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi stars Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Benicio Del Toro as ‘DJ’, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, and the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa. The film is in theaters worldwide.
