Ahead of the release of Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, The Tracking Board was able to sit down with Tolmach to discuss not only the sequel to Jumanji, but other projects he has going on, including the Tom Hardy-led Venom and the upcoming Silver and Black. According to Tolmach, things are moving “fast” with the spinoff, and he feels as though he and the studio have “come up with a really good reason” for fans to enjoy the film, even if they don’t necessarily care for one of the two main leads.

That’s good news for fans that may not have been on board with the project as, like with Venom, it will exist separately from the Marvel Cinematic Universe alongside Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. With the film, which is said to be in the vein of Thelma & Louise, coming together quickly, Tolmach promises that casting announcements can be expected sooner rather than later, “without any specifics.”

Details surrounding the project have been scarce thus far, however, various rumors have suggested Spider-Man: Homecoming’s Scorpion, played by Better Call Saul’s Michael Mando, as well as the infamous Spider-Man villain Norman Osborn, may appear in the spinoff film.

Gina Prince-Bythewood, who directed the pilot for Marvel’s Cloak and Dagger, is attached to Silver and Black, which is expected to arrive in theaters on February 8, 2019.
