SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for “A Life Spent,” the latest episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Daisy “Quake” Johnson, Destroyer of Worlds, is now at the mercy of the Kree. In “A Life Spent,” the latest episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Deke gave up Daisy’s plan to rescue Simmons, allowing Kasius and his Kree henchmen to immobilize and capture her.
In the beginning of the episode, Daisy and Deke had a few disagreements about how to approach Simmons’ rescue. Daisy wanted to storm the Kree levels and take her friend by force; Deke thought it was wiser to play the long game. “You are storming the castle. Any plan on how you’re going to get out alive?” he demanded to know.
“This is what I do. My friend’s life is on the line, so I’ll figure something out,” Daisy spat back.

“So you’re all in, totally blind, huh? That’s a stupid way to play, even if you have a good hand,” he retorted. “You should be playing the long game. I can make it so that you can waltz down there with an invitation from the Big Man, but that takes serious time. It takes finesse… You’re about to walk into a buzzsaw.”
“You’re just worried this is going to blow back on you,” she said, to which he growled, “This has nothing to do with me. If you pick a fight with the blues, they are going to take it out on all of us… Death comes easy here.” That only fortified Daisy’s decision to go, and she quaked him into a wall and stormed off.
After fighting her way through a few human levels, Daisy eventually made her way to the Kree section of the Lighthouse. However, she didn’t make it very far when she got there. Deke had tipped off Kasius that she was coming, giving him the foresight to enact a safety measure that boxed her in the hallway and drugged her so that she was unable to use her powers.

“That right there is a weapon of mass destruction, tied up in one pretty little package all for you,” Deke explained to Kasius. “We can talk about price later, but I expect that you’ll be more than fair… The important thing is she’s yours.” When Daisy gasped that she would kill Deke, he responded, “Sorry, sweetheart. Just playing the long game.”
Here, Deke’s callback to his earlier plan of the “long game” may suggest that his intention was not to betray Daisy after all. In fact, he may be doing the best with what he has to work, installing Daisy in the Kree levels for a plan she does not know yet. However, we’ll have to wait until next episode to see what Deke is up to.

But what would Kasius want with Daisy? If the rest of the episode is any indication, he probably wants to turn her into an intergalactic gladiator. Simmons learned that every human is subjected to a Terrigen ceremony at the age of 18, in hopes they will manifest powers. Those that go through Terrigenesis are implanted with a power dampener, separated from their families and told that it is an honor. They are then forced to fight gladiators from other galaxies. If successful, the Inhumans are sold to intergalactic visitors, like the one Kasius received earlier in the episode.
