Star Wars: The Last Jedi Promo Shows Chewie & a Porg

The latest promo for Star Was: The Last Jedi is rated PG for porg violence. The brief TV spot shows a lot of familiar footage, including Luke Skywalker boarding the Millennium Falcon, but at least one scene got a little extension: Chewie with the porg in the cockpit. This time around, Chewie smacks the porg right off the dashboard after it lets out its familiar scream.

Despite Chewie’s harsh treatment, the porg in the scene above may have a special connection to him. “That porg in particular shows some very Wookiee traits in the way he’s coloured; his patterning is very similar to Chewie’s,” revealed Neal Scanlan, the head of the Creature Workshop for Star Wars, in an earlier interview.

If earlier comments from Finn actor John Boyega are any indication, The Last Jedi may be suffering from a downright porg infestation. After revealing he had a “love/hate relationship” with the puffin-like alien creatures, he said, “When you put them in a bunch, in holes, on the Millennium Falcon, that’s when they start to become really, really freaky.”

The porgs have been a large part of the marketing for The Last Jedi and have also starred in several animated shorts for the upcoming film.

Written and directed by Rian Johnson, Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits theaters December 15 and stars Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker, Daisy Ridley as Rey, John Boyega as Finn, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Andy Serkis as Supreme Leader Snoke, Domhnall Gleeson as General Hux, Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma, Anthony Daniels as C-3PO, Lupita Nyong’o as Maz Kanata, Benicio Del Toro as ‘DJ’, Kelly Marie Tran as Rose Tico, Laura Dern as Vice Admiral Amilyn Holdo, and the late Carrie Fisher as General Leia Organa.
