The Flash: Kid Flash References Starro

SPOILER WARNING: This article contains major spoilers for “Therefore I Am,” the latest episode of The Flash.

Kid Flash may have just fought the villain that brought together the original incarnation of the Justice League of America in the comics. In “Therefore I Am,” the latest episode of The Flash, Wally West returned to Central City just in time for his sister Iris’ wedding, and he brought back some colorful stories with him. Asked how his trip to Blue Valley went, Wally revealed that he fought a giant starfish while he wasn’t busy with self-reflection.

Of course, the giant starfish Wally is referring to is likely Starro the Conquerer, a gigantic alien who resembles a starfish. Debuting in Brave and Bold #28, Starro attacked Happy Harbor and brought together the original Justice League of America: Flash, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Green Lantern and Martian Manhunter.

Starro was ultimately defeated by the Justice League of America, but returned in later comics. He did go on to attack Blue Valley, where he was able to mind control the Flash. It’s unclear if Wally suffered the same fate when he fought off the intergalactic starfish, as he only referenced this nemesis.

Starring Grant Gustin as the Scarlet Speedster, The Flash airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. ET/PT on The CW. The series also stars Jesse L. Martin, Tom Cavanagh, Carlos Valdes, Candice Patton, Danielle Panabaker, Keiynan Lonsdale and more.
