Typically the most fun and outrageous of The CW’s DC Comics-based TV series, Legends of Tomorrow is said to be the tear-jerking episode in the upcoming Crisis On Earth-X crossover.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, Legends of Tomorrow executive producer Phil Klemmer explained that “you’ll be most surprised that Legends is capable of making our audience cry. I thought last season really leaned into the comedy and that season three we tripled down on that.” The third season of Legends of Tomorrow has seen the team of misfits go as far as to visit a circus in the 1870’s, to much hilarity.
“There’s some ludicrous moments. Things get bananas, and yet in this crossover, we have this thing that happens that will honestly move you to tears.” Klemmer went on to call it “a testament to our actors that they can do this comedic, super rompy fun show that also has moments of genuine emotion.” It’s worth noting that the last episode of Crisis On Earth-X is indeed an episode of Legends of Tomorrow, so fans can expect a huge climax and a (potential) fatal sacrifice to deliver a huge emotional blow.
The “Crisis On Earth-X” event sees heroes from Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl and Legends of Tomorrow face off against their evil Nazi counterparts. Other set photos have shown the nemeses of The Flash, Green Arrow and Supergirl.
This year’s crossover aims to be more like a movie than a four-part special. “When we first did the crossover, I guess back in our third season and The Flash’s first season, it was very much like ‘It’s an episode of The Flash where I show up, and then an episode of Arrow where he shows up,’” Arrow star Stephen Amell said recently. “And even last year, it was like ‘You know, Flash showed up on Supergirl, and then it was an episode of The Flash, an episode of Arrow and an episode of Legends.’ But this year is just a four-hour movie.”
