Jason Momoa Teases Start of Production on Reboot

Actor Jason Momoa has teased that production on the long-gestating reboot of The Crow will start soon.

Momoa shared a photo of Eric Draven/The Crow’s iconic makeup on his Instagram. The image itself comes from a fan poster by LostMind. The actor also posted a photo of himself with director Corin Hardy. “I’ve been waiting for sooooo long. @corinhardy let’s do this brother aloha j,” Momoa wrote alongside the pictures.

A remake/reboot of the 1994 film had been in development at Relativity Media for a decade before eventually landing at Sony Pictures in September. It wasn’t entirely clear if Momoa and Hardy were still attached to the project after its move, but Momoa’s post seems to confirm that they are.

Based on James O’Barr’s cult comic, The Crow centers on Eric Draven, who’s resurrected by a supernatural crow to avenge his own murder and that of his girlfriend. The Crow Reborn is expected to be more faithful to the original comic than Alex Proyas’ 1994 film. In 2016, Proyas called a reboot/remake of the movie “unnecessary.”

Edward R. Pressman, who produced the original film, will produce the remake alongside Samuel Hadida’s Davis Films, Highland Film Group and Electric Shadow.
