Thor: Ragnarok audiences were keen to note the reference to Beta Ray Bill welded to the side of the Grandmaster’s tower, but many were left wanting more. As it turns out, the film originally did have more Beta Ray Bill – an early cut saw the character appear in a cameo. Why wasn’t he in the final movie, then? According to Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige, Beta Ray Bill wasn’t in Thor: Ragnarok because that early cut didn’t have enough of him.

Speaking with Crave Online, Feige explained that the timing on a Beta Ray Bill reveal needs to be just right, and that Thor: Ragnarok simply wasn’t that time.
“There was a Beta Ray Bill, but it was so quick that you would have the same complaints that you have now,” Feige said. “He was in it a little bit more and it just didn’t do justice. And the feeling is, if you can’t do it justice, do it later.”

So, Beta Ray Bill fans needn’t lament their Korbinite best boy didn’t make it into the movie. The Marvel Cinematic Universe might be coming up on its tenth year, but there’s still plenty of time for ol’ Bill to make his grand entrance.
Playing in theaters now, Thor: Ragnarok is directed by Taika Waititi and stars Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, Cate Blanchett as Hela, Idris Elba as Heimdall, Jeff Goldblum as Grandmaster, Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie, Karl Urban as Skurge, Mark Ruffalo as Bruce Banner/Hulk and Anthony Hopkins as Odin.
