LOOK: Venom’s Tom Hardy Takes a Break on Set

An update from the Venom movie’s official Twitter account has shown a sweaty Tom Hardy taking a respite from a hard day’s work two weeks into the start of production. The image shows Hardy in his trailer snapping a pic with the caption: “Quick break from set. Two weeks down. #Venom.”

The movie kicked off production a couple of weeks ago and while details are relatively secret, the long-planned Spider-Man spinoff by director Ruben Fleischer (Zombieland, Gangster Squad) has been rumored to adapt the 1993 Marvel Comics miniseries Venom: Lethal Protector, in which symbiote host Eddie Brock turned from a villain to an antihero and moved to San Francisco.

Hunted by the father of one of his victims, he becomes targeted by super-powered mercenaries who were offshoots of the Venom symbiote: Scream, Riot, Phage, Agony and Lasher. Further rumors suggest Michelle Williams will play She-Venom, and Riz Ahmed will become Carnage, retconning this particular take on Venom with a new group of villains. Recent news revealed Venom will be a motion capture creation but fans hoping he’ll join the Marvel Cinematic Universe will be sorely disappointed as Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige has reiterated that the character will exist outside of MCU continuity.

Written by Jeff Pinkner and Scott Rosenberg, Venom is expected to hit theaters on Oct. 5, 2018.
