This January, the first Cardcaptor Sakura movie was brought back to theaters and was met with an overwhelming positive response. Following the success of the first movie, Cardcaptor Sakura Movie 2: The Sealed Card is getting a revival screening from Dec. 29 in nine movie theaters.
Theaters screening the movie will also have some exclusive goodies prepared including cushions, costume charms, acrylic keyholders, a clear file set, a postcard set, glass sets, tin badges, and mirrors. These items are also available for pre-order on Bandai Visual’s official shop until Nov. 6.
Written and illustrated by CLAMP, Cardcaptor Sakura started serialization in 1996 in Kodansha’s Nakayoshi magazine. It follows Kinomoto Sakura, a 4th-year student on her quest to collect the Clow Cards.
Two years later, it received an anime adaptation that captured the hearts of fans with its likeable characters and incredibly cute costumes. The anime series was also followed by a movie in 1999 and a second one in 2000, which is a sequel to the anime series as well as its finale.
The series celebrated its 20th birthday in 2016, which brought about a revival: CLAMP started a new manga series subtitled Clear Card Arc as one of the anniversary projects, and a brand new anime series is coming in next January. Are you as excited for it as we are?
