Andy Muschietti’s It broke records en route to becoming the highest-grossing horror movie of all time, and a lot of that was thanks to Bill Skarsgård’s performance as Pennywise. Now, you can relive the film’s iconic opening scene where the demonic clown claims little Georgie Denbrough as his first victim in the quiet town of Derry.

Clocking in at around four minutes, the clip begins as Jackson Robert Scott’s Georgie plays with his paper boat in the heavy rain. The boat, the S.S. Georgie, ends up in the drain and subsequently in the sewers, where the seven year-old encounters Pennywise, who pretends to befriend the young boy with the lure of his boat and the circus. The scene ends just before Pennywise bites Georgie’s arm off and kills him.
This series of events comes straight from Stephen King’s 1986 novel and was made even more famous in the 1990 miniseries adaptation with Tim Curry as Pennywise and Tony Dakota as the ill-fated Georgie. The scares are set to continue with Pennywise under Muschietti’s watch as a sequel has already been green lit for a 2019 release. The upcoming sequel will feature Georgie’s brother Bill and the rest of the Losers Club fighting the clown off as adults.
Based on Stephen King’s classic novel of the same name, director Andy Muschietti’s It stars Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise, Finn Wolfhard, Jaeden Lieberher, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Jack Dylan Grazer, Chosen Jacobs, Wyatt Oleff, Nicholas Hamilton, Owen Teague and Logan Thompson. It is currently playing in theaters.
