New York Comic Con is underway and everyone is in the nerdy spirit – even the cops. New York Police Department Transit Bureau Chief Joseph Fox posted to Twitter on Friday a picture of an officer who had opted to take their patrol to the next level by cosplaying as the sinister clown Pennywise.

Pennywise is in the cultural consciousness right now due to the success of Andy Muschietti’s It, an adaptation of Stephen King’s novel by the same name about a child-eating clown who lives in the sewers of Derry, Maine and the band of children who must fend him off when he awakens from his 27-year slumber.

Luckily for NYCC-goers, this officer was on hand to keep people safe, not consume their fears in a subterranean trash lair. That’s a relief. The costume was a big hit with NYCC attendees, one of whom even snapped a picture of the officer handing his bunch of red balloons to a child dressed up as Dragon Ball Z’s Gohan.
