Meet the Characters of Cardcaptor Sakura: Clear Card Arc!

The Clear Card Arc, the newest chapter of Cardcaptor Sakura, is just a few months away, with its Jan. 7 air date! The official site and Twitter account are buzzing with updates, and the most recent addition to that are details about the characters including art, background, and voice actors.

Prepare for the new series with these quick refreshers and Clear Card Arc character designs!~

Our titular heroine Sakura took on the role of Cardcaptor after finding a book containing Clow Cards in the original series. At the time she was an elementary school student, but in the Clear Card Arc, she’s now a junior high school student! She’s voiced by Tange Sakura.

The beloved Guardian of the Clow Cards alongside Yue, Cerberus takes the form of a plush toy after the cards are scattered. His true form is that of a Lion. The Clow Card book was in Osaka for a long time, so Kero-chan also speaks with an Osaka accent (Osaka-ben), and he is voiced by Hisakawa Aya.

Tomoyo is Sakura’s absolute best friend. She’s also talented in both recording videos and sewing, so she designs all of Sakura’s costumes and chronicles her adventures. Tomoyo is voiced by Iwao Junko.

Li Syaoran is a distant relative of Clow Reed and initially believed that he should be the Cardcaptor of the Clow Cards. He transferred to Tomoeda from Hong Kong with this aim, but he ultimately accepts Sakura as the Cardcaptor, falling in love with her, and is forced to return to Hong Kong. He makes his return to Tomoeda in the Clear Card Arc. Li is voiced by Kumai Motoko.

Toya is the older brother of Sakura and frequently comes to her rescue. Similar to her he is shown to have magical abilities which gave him the ability to see ghosts and non-humans, but he sacrificed these abilities in the original series to save Yukito and Yue. He’s voiced by Seki Tomokazu.

Initially a love interest of both Sakura and Li, Yukito is an extremely calm and kind-hearted figure. He’s in a relationship with Toya and is perhaps best-known for his ravenous appetite, and he also serves as Yue’s vessel. He’s voiced by Ogata Megumi.

Yue is the second Guardian of the Clow Cards, taking on the role of “Judge” for Sakura’s trial in the original series. He exists within Yukito’s body, and despite being cold towards others initially, he grows to be extremely kind and caring towards Sakura. Like Yukito, he’s voiced by Ogata Megumi.

Akiho is a newcomer to the series voiced by Suzuki Minori, and it turns out that she’s moved into Eriol’s old house! She also carries around a plush rabbit named Momo.

Eriol played an important role in the original series as the reincarnation of Clow Reed. Possessing both Clow’s memories and his magical power, he pulled the strings that lead to Sakura’s trial. He is voiced by Sasaki Nozomu.

Mizuki is the shrine maiden of the Tsukimine Shrine, and she appears in the original series as a substitute math teacher at Tomoeda Elementary School. This turns out to be a cover as she is a part of Eriol’s test for Sakura. Following the test, she returns to England. Kaho is voiced by Shinohara Emi.

While it’s great to welcome back familiar faces like Sakura and Syaoran, it’ll also be exciting to see what role Akiho and Momo will play in the new series…! Something dangerous is afoot in Tomoeda!
