Earlier this week, DC Entertainment President Diane Nelson revealed that the company had begun to rethink its cinematic universe . She explained that, moving forward — while they plan to use continuity to ensure nothing “diverge in a way that doesn’t make sense” — there will be no overall interconnectivity in its film universe. This comment seemed to be echoed by Chief Creative Officer Geoff Johns, who explained that films such as Aquaman wouldn’t necessarily connect to all of DC’s other films. However, according to a new statement from Johns, that’s not the case at all.

Responding to a fan who was questioning the company’s choice to “pull the rug out” from under its cinematic universe, Johns revealed that the DC Extended universe is still “100%” connected.

For fans of DC, Johns’ tweet should help ease concerns that they’re seeking to shift its approach to the cinematic universe. While there will be projects that are not included under the DC Extended Universe banner — such as the planned Joker origin film — the majority of its films will be included in the cinematic universe. While this doesn’t necessarily mean they’ll all interconnect to each film, like with Aquaman, it appears they will help to build towards one central story.
