The clip, courtesy of io9, depicts the iconic scene where Pennywise is in the sewer drain at the beginning of Stephen King’s story, trying to lure in seven-year old Georgie Denbrough whose paper boat got swept away by the heavy rains. This scene, which eventually led to Pennywise killing the youngster, would serve to be the catalyst for the clown’s rampage in the story, particularly with Georgie’s brother, Bill, and his group of friends.
Duran’s piece boasts all the essential elements of an anime, with Anderson himself impressing in voicing Pennywise. Anderson brings Pennywise’s harrowing voice to life as Duran highlights the paper boat, all set to a haunting piece of music that sets the horror mood to full. While it may be a while before we see an anime series based on the novel, the critical and financial success of the movie has led to a sequel being fast-tracked with a date set for September 2019.
Currently screening in theaters, It is a production of New Line Cinema directed by Andy Muschietti and starring Jaeden Lieberher, Bill Skarsgård, Wyatt Oleff, Jeremy Ray Taylor, Sophia Lillis, Finn Wolfhard, Jack Dylan Grazer and Chosen Jacobs.
