As Disney and Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi gears up to hit theaters in December, different novels and comic vooks are set to flesh out some of the film’s important locales. Newly announced is Marvel comic book miniseries Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Storms of Crait, which will explore the titular mineral planet that director Rian Johnson has said will play a key role in the upcoming movie.

The press release teases that Crait will become a battleground for a showdown between the Resistance and the First Order in The Last Jedi. The comic book series, written by Ben Acker and Ben Blacker with art by Mike Mayhew, will take place during the original Star Wars trilogy and the war between the Empire and the Rebel Alliance, exploring Luke Skywalker and Leia Organa’s time on the planet.
“We’re excited for the opportunity to tell this story,” editor Jordan D. White said in the press release. “Tying the new sequel series in more tightly with the original trilogy era, and helping make the Galaxy Far Away a little more fleshed out. The Bens are a great fit in for Star Wars, as they showed in Join the Resistance, and Mike has did such great work on both covers and the Obi-Wan issues of the flagship Star Wars title, that we couldn’t be happier to have him back doing art for us.”
Star Wars: The Last Jedi – Storms of Crait #1 is scheduled for release on Dec. 27, 2017. Star Wars: The Last Jedi arrives in theaters on Dec. 15.
