According to Variety, the Arnold Schwarzenegger-Jamie Lee Curtis classic True Lies is set for a TV reboot over at FOX.

The project is being developed by director James Cameron, McG, Jon Landau, Rae Sanchini, and Mary Viola, in addition to Arrow and Legends of Tomorrow producer Marc Guggenheim, who is set to pen and executive produce the project. As of right now, True Lies has only received a put pilot commitment, meaning the network will need to air the pilot or pay a penalty. However, should the series receive a pick-up from Fox, it’ll be developed as a one-hour drama.
The 1994 film saw Schwarzenegger play a super-spy who kept his true job a secret from his wife (Curtis) and daughter. Following its release, True Lies went on to gross an impressive $378 million at the worldwide box office.

This marks the second attempt to bring the film to life on the small screen, as Cameron famously tried to bring the project to television back in 2010, with ABC even going on to order a script with a penalty if it weren’t actually produced. At the time, Rene Echevarria (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine, Teen Wolf) was attached as the writer/showrunner and co-executive producer. The project never came to fruition, despite the script penalty.
The pilot for True Lies will be directed by McG, who also helmed the pilot for FOX’s successful Lethal Weapon reboot.
