The long-planned reboot of The Crow may at last have found a new home at Sony Pictures.

A remake of the 1994 film starring Brandon Lee, the project had labored in development for more than a decade at Relativity Media before emerging last fall as The Crow Reborn following the company’s bankruptcy.

Numerous actors, from Bradley Cooper to Luke Evans to Jack Huston, have been linked to the film over the years; Jason Momoa was reportedly in talks for the title role early last year. Likewise, numerous directors, from Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and Stephen Norrington to Javier Gutierrez and Corin Hardy, have been attached. The Hollywood Reporter contends that although Hardy and Momoa aren’t signed on to Sony’s version of The Crow Reborn, the hope is that they will be brought on board.

Based on James O’Barr’s cult comic, The Crow centers on Eric Draven, who’s resurrected by a supernatural crow to avenge his own murder and that of his girlfriend. The Crow Reborn is expected to be more faithful to the original comic than Alex Proyas’ 1994 film was.

Edward R. Pressman, who produced the original film, will produce the remake alongside Samuel Hadida’s Davis Films, Highland Film Group and Electric Shadow.
