Land of the Lustrous ( or Houseki no Kuni ) is a fantasy manga by Ichikawa Haruko, and its anime adaptation is set to air on Oct. 7, 2017! Along with that announcement, we also got a key visual, new PV, and details about the main cast!
The series is set in a world where living “jewels” with immortal bodies are forced to fight against a mysterious enemy known as “moon people”. The manga is extremely popular, with more than 1,400,000 copies printed.
The newly released key visual features the main cast including Phos and Cinnabar in a beautifully colorful design, and the PV gives us a glimpse at the opening!
As for the main cast, 18 names have been revealed including Kurosawa Tomoyo, Komatsu Mikako, Kayano Ai, and Sakura Ayane. It will be directed by Kyougoku Takahiko with series composition by Ono Toshiya, and character design will be done by Nishida Asako.
There will also be an advanced screening at TOHO Cinemas Roppongi on Sept. 24, around 2 weeks before the show officially airs. Visitors will get to see episodes 1 through 3, and there will even be a talk show. The event will also be held twice, once with the main cast including Kurosawa Tomoyo, Komatsu Mikako, Kayano Ai, and Sakura Ayane, and once with Kurosawa Tomoyo, Komatsu Mikako, and Kyougoku Takahiko.
