Seth Meyers Rebooting The Munsters for NBC


According to Deadline, NBC is developing yet another reboot of the ’60s “horror”-comedy series The Munsters from Late Night host Seth Meyers and Odd Mom Out creator Jill Kargman. Hailing from Universal TV, the project will be written and executive produced by Kargman, and produced by Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions’ Meyers and Mike Shoemaker (The Awesomes).

The series will reportedly reimagine the fan-favorite show as a half-hour single-camera comedy that will follow the titular horror-inspired family as the navigate life and try to fit in among modern Brooklynites in the New York City bureau’s most hipster neighbourhood. This is of course in contrast to the original series, which took place in the fictional California suburb Mockingbird Heights.

In 2012, NBC and Universal attempted to reboot the property under the helm of Star Trek: Discovery’s Bryan Fuller. The the project never became a full-fledged series, the big-budget pilot episode — directed by Bryan Singer and starring Jerry O’Connell as Herman Munster, Portia de Rossi as Lily, Eddie Izzard as Grandpa and Charity Wakefield as Marilyn — aired as a Halloween special.
