Batman Learns a Lesson About Magic in Detective Comics #960

Ascalon is everything the Order of Dumas wanted in an Azrael, only without the human weaknesses. Pure faith given body in shining metal. It is the end of the Crusade, the final battle. And it is loose in Gotham City, hunting the last of the Order to deliver God’s judgment and fatally excommunicate it of its impurities.

But with Azrael in his Suit of Sorrows, it has recognized something familiar. The battle is delayed as Ascalon seeks the truth of this connection, and Jean-Paul is left to further navigate the mysteries of his own history. Will Azrael finally remember what he truly is?
